In 1973, the US Supreme Court heard the case of Roe v. Wade to decide whether a pregnant woman has an individual Constitutional right to an abortion, or whether government could limit a woman’s ability to get an abortion. Roe has come to be known as the case that legalized abortion nationwide.
On Friday, June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade, determining that there was no individual right to abortion and leaving it up to each state to provide laws and regulations on abortions.
Abortion is legal in CT and has been allowed by state law since 1990. CT state law was just updated in 2022 to expand the pool of providers who can perform abortion and to protect the information of people who get or provide abortions. Is there anything else I can help you with you today?
